Glossary
Terms that come up in Hologramu and in VTubing generally.
Blend shape — A stored deformation of the face (a smile, an "A", a blink). VRM models bring them along; Minecraft avatars use textures instead.
Bone chain — A row of connected bones simulated as a unit (a hair strand, an ear, a tail).
Full-body tracking — Detecting arms, torso and legs in addition to the face.
Gizmo — The handle in the viewport for moving, rotating and scaling.
Keyframe — A stored state at a point in time. In between, values are interpolated.
MediaPipe — Google's library that the webcam tracking is built on.
MToon — The toon material used by many VRM models.
Rig — A model's skeleton.
Track — A bone's row of keyframes in an animation. Only bones with a track are locked during playback.
VMC — The protocol VTuber programs use to exchange motion data.
VRM — An open file format for humanoid 3D avatars.
